Shivamogga is a stunning city in India’s Karnataka region. It’s renowned for its verdant forests, magnificent waterfalls, and dynamic culture. A wonderful location to discover and take in the wonders of nature is Shivamogga.
Here are a few of Shivamogga’s top tourist destinations.
1. Jog Falls
One of India’s most magnificent waterfalls is Jog Falls. It is situated in Karnataka’s Shimoga district. The Sharavathi River, which cascades from a height of 253 meters, creates the falls. Raja, Rani, Roarer, and Rocket are the four separate cascades that make up the falls. The monsoon season, when the water level is at its maximum, is the ideal time to see Jog Falls.
The water at Jog Falls is unusual as it thunders down the slope without making contact with the rocks, making it the tallest un-tiered waterfall in India. The waterfalls’ splendor is heightened by the lush green surrounds, which provide as a picturesque backdrop. Hikers can reach the falls’ base and plunge into the water there.
2. Kodachadri
The Shimoga district of Karnataka is home to the mountain peak known as Kodachadri. The peak is renowned for its verdant forests and breathtaking vistas of the surroundings. The summit is a well-liked trekking location and a wonderful site to discover and take in the wonders of nature. You must be aware of the ideal time to visit Karnataka if you want a soul-satisfying hiking trip.
The optimum months to go on a trek are between September and January, say hikers who have already scaled the Kodachadr mountain top. During these months, you can experience the true grandeur of Kodachadr mountain peak, from the nice weather to the best flora and fauna.
3. Kavaledurga Fort
In the Karnataka state’s Shimoga district stands the historic fort known as Kavaledurga Fort. The Keladi kings constructed the fort in the sixteenth century. The fort is a well-liked tourist destination and is recognized for its remarkable construction. The fort offers breathtaking views of the surroundings and is encircled by verdant forests.
The heritage site is a well-kept secret in the area, so there aren’t any regular tourists there. The journey uphill to the fort may be a little exhausting, but the view from the top will make the effort worthwhile.
4. Linganamakki Dam
In Shivamogga, Linganamakki Dam is a well-liked tourist attraction. One of the biggest dams in India, the dam is situated on the Sharavathi River. The dam offers breathtaking views of the surroundings and is encircled by verdant forests. The dam is a wonderful location to unwind and take in the wonders of nature.
This was among our best encounters while we were close to Jogfalls. One of our guides, an experienced local, drove us to a location from which he organized a boat ride. Even though the boat ride was brief, it was fantastic. We had to shorten our time in the reservoir because of the rain, but the scenery was amazing.
5. Kuppalli
A small village in Karnataka’s Shimoga district is called Kuppalli. The hamlet is renowned for its beautiful waterfalls and verdant woodlands. The well-known Kuppalli Temple, a Lord Shiva temple, is located in the village. The temple is a well-liked tourist attraction and a wonderful location to explore and take in the wonders of nature.
Kuvempu is honored by the megalithic granite monument known as Kavishaila. It is located in Kuppalli at the top of a tiny hill. The rocks have been arranged in a circular pattern to replicate the Stonehenge in England. The spot where Kuvempu was buried after his passing is in the center of this rock monument, and there is a memorial there.
