During a bilateral discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India is still willing to offer all possible assistance to help resolve the issue in Ukraine peacefully.

During their meeting outside the UN Summit of the Future, the two leaders talked about the state of affairs in Ukraine and how to move on with pursuing a path towards peace.

The Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s “clear, consistent and constructive” stance in favour of a diplomatic, dialogue-based, and stakeholder-inclusive peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine during the meeting, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

“In New York, I met President Zelensky. In order to improve our bilateral ties, we are dedicated to putting my visit to Ukraine’s results into practice. Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, “Reiterated India’s support for an early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and the restoration of peace and stability.”

The MEA released a statement stating that the two leaders conveyed satisfaction with the ongoing strengthening of bilateral ties and recalled the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Ukraine.

In a little more than three months, the two leaders had met three times. The MEA said that the two leaders decided to stay in constant communication.

Prime Minister Modi visited Ukraine in August at the invitation of President Zelensky. Since the two countries’ bilateral relations were established in 1992, this was the first time an Indian prime minister had visited Ukraine, making the visit noteworthy.

During the visit, the Prime Minister made it apparent that India, which is frequently regarded as neutral in the continuing war between Russia and Ukraine, has always taken a stand and is adamantly advocating for peace.
