The construction of world-class Schools of Excellence throughout India will make high-quality education accessible and cheap for everyone, according to a Monday announcement made by Gautam Adani, the chairperson of the Adani Group.
The cooperation will focus on making top-notch education and learning facilities accessible to individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds, with an initial commitment of Rs 2,000 crore from the Adani family.
Gautam Adani announced the Adani Foundation’s collaboration with GEMS Education, a global network of K–12 schools that have won awards. The first of these schools will open in Lucknow during the 2025–2026 school year.
We are pleased to announce that @AdaniFoundation and @GEMSEducation, a world leader in K–12 education, have partnered. Together, we will establish top-notch Adani GEMS Schools of Excellence throughout India, ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality education at a reasonable cost,” the Adani Group Chairperson said on the social media platform X.
He added that 30% of the seats in these schools’ CBSE curricula would be given away for free to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Twenty schools are planned in three years, with the first opening in Lucknow in 2025–2026. Gautam Adani stated that “service is meditation, service is prayer, and service is God” and that “together, we will help shape the future – one student at a time.”
The pledge is a component of the Adani Group’s recently announced Rs 10,000 crore social donation. The business previously announced plans to invest Rs 2,000 crore to create a skilled workforce pipeline for sectors across the spectrum with Singapore’s ITE Education Services (ITEES) and Rs 6,000 crore to establish Adani Health Cities (AHCs) in collaboration with the US-based Mayo Clinic.
Best-in-class research institutions devoted to fostering teaching competencies with the help of innovation and capability development will emerge as a result of the relationship.
At least 20 of these K–12 schools will be established in India’s major cities over the course of the following three years, with Tier II–IV cities to follow.
Thirty percent of the seats in these schools’ CBSE curriculum will be given away for free to eligible and underprivileged students.
The cooperation intends to create a scalable, cost-effective, and sustainable model for high-quality education for kids throughout India by utilising the Adani Group’s widespread presence and infrastructure skills as well as GEMS’ educational experience.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to making world-class education affordable and widely accessible,” stated Gautam Adani.
“By adopting global best practices and innovative digital learning through our partnership with GEMS Education, we aim to equip the next generation of change-makers to become socially responsible leaders in India,” the businessman and billionaire stated.
GEMS Education’s founder and chairman, Sunny Varkey, states that the organization’s goal has always been to provide high-quality education to all students, irrespective of their financial situation.
“The collaboration with the Adani Foundation will strengthen us to expand our reach and impact, bringing our global educational expertise to learners and teachers in diverse regions of India,” he stated.
The top Indian study boards along with a worldwide curriculum will be advantageous to the Adani-GEMS schools.
