Preparations are underway for the spectacular oath-taking ceremony of new Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, which will mark the commencement of the BJP’s governance in the national capital.
The major ceremony will take place at Ramlila Maidan, and many people are anticipated to attend.
The swearing-in ceremony will be high-profile, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet, and Chief Ministers from several states in attendance.
Delhi Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta, an elected MLA from Shalimar Bagh, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party leadership for believing in her, stating, “I will live up to his expectations.”
Following her selection as the new Chief Minister of Delhi by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), CM-designate Rekha Gupta stated, “I want to thank the party high command, Prime Minister Modi, and the people of Delhi for supporting and choosing me. A significant transformation will occur in Delhi, and the city’s golden time will begin… My purpose and priority is to realise PM Modi’s vision and the commitments we have made to the people.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown tremendous faith in an average party worker and daughter like me. I’ll live up to his expectations. I’d want to thank the party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for believing in a commoner like me and entrusting me with such great responsibility… My narrative may inspire any woman, that a normal middle-class lady can be given the opportunity to reach the party’s highest leadership…,” Gupta said after arriving at her Shalimar Bagh apartment.
She had already congratulated the people of Delhi for their support and choice, predicting that the city’s golden age will soon arrive.
Rekha Gupta will become Delhi’s fourth woman Chief Minister, carrying on a history that other regions of the country have struggled to match.
Women from the BJP, Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party have served as Chief Ministers in Delhi. She will succeed Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Chief Minister Atishi.
The BJP’s return to power in the capital was welcomed by its workers and sympathisers.
Rekha Gupta’s husband, Manish Gupta, and her followers also cheered the announcement of her becoming the next Chief Minister.
In the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP won 48 out of 70 seats, while the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party gained 22. For the third time, Congress was unable to open its account.
