Before taking oath as Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta has stated that those who have engaged in corruption in the last 12 years will be held accountable.
“For the past 12 years, the AAP has dominated Delhi, and the concerns of corruption are their responsibility. They will be held accountable for every rupee of public funds… Anyone who has engaged in corruption would have to answer for every rupee,” the CM-designate told the journalists outside her residence in Shalimar Bagh.
She also stated that the new responsibility is a “new motivation and a new chapter for her”.
As BJP MLA-elect Rekha Gupta takes oath as Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, her cabinet will consist of six members.
President Droupadi Murmu has appointed the CM and her six ministers. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs published a gazette notification on Thursday, stating that the appointments will take effect from the date they were sworn in.
“The President is pleased to appoint Mrs. Rekha Gupta as Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, effective from the date she is sworn in,” states the notification signed by Praveen Kumar Rai, joint secretary.
The notification lists the names of six MLAs who would be sworn in as ministers: Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh.
The new Delhi Chief Minister and her cabinet’ spectacular oath-taking ceremony will be held at Ramlila Maidan, with a large crowd expected.
The swearing-in ceremony will be high-profile, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet, and Chief Ministers from several states in attendance.
On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party leadership for putting their trust in her, stating, “I will live up to his expectations.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown tremendous faith in an average party worker and daughter like me. I’ll live up to his expectations. I’d like to thank the party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for believing in a commoner like me and entrusting me with such a significant responsibility…,” Gupta added.
