Indian athletes Sarvesh Kushare and Annu Rani were disappointed not to make it to the finals of their respective disciplines here on Wednesday at the Olympics in Paris 2024.

The women’s javelin throw national record holder, Annu Rani, threw a best effort of 55.81 meters on Wednesday in the Stade de France qualification round.

Annu achieved three separate distances of 55.81, 53.22, and 53.55 meters. She tried her hardest, but she was unable to make the qualifying requirement of 62.00 meters, finishing 15th in Group A. She was also eliminated from the tournament since her overall ranking was outside the top 12.

The women’s javelin throw national record holder, Annu Rani, withdrew short of her best throw, which would have guaranteed her a spot in the final. Her throw was measured at 63.82 meters.

Kushare encountered similar difficulties in the men’s high jump qualification round. He cleared 2.15 meters on his first try, but he had trouble going over this distance on his subsequent tries.

Kushare missed the 2.29 metre qualifying mark after failing to clear the 2.20 metre mark three times. Unfortunately, the 29-year-old athlete’s Olympic career came to an abrupt end as he finished second last in Group B of the qualification event.
