N. Shree Charani, a young left-arm spinner, joined the playing eleven after the Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first against the Mumbai Indians in the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) final at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday.

A win for DC in their third WPL final would be their first championship victory. A victory for MI will give them their second WPL title, the first coming at this location in 2023, after defeating DC.

DC is playing in their first game of the tournament in Mumbai after an eight-day layoff, while MI is playing their fourth match of the week. After winning the toss, DC skipper Meg Lanning announced that Charani would replace bowler Titas Sadhu in the playing eleven, marking the first time the side has chased in a WPL final.

“The conditions will remain the same, which has worked well for us throughout the competition. We’ve taken some time off to recharge, and we’re eager about tonight. This is an opportunity for us. She remarked, “We need to play well, and hopefully it will be our best performance.”

MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur confirmed that her starting lineup has not changed since the Eliminator victory over the Gujarat Giants by 47 runs. “Even we were planning to bowl. But I believe that anything is healthy for us. According to the statistics from the last four games, the team that bats first has won. Staying balanced and present has proven effective for us.”

“They’ve played excellent cricket in this competition. The last week has gone smoothly for us. We have many wonderful recollections from the first season. “Today is a new day, a beautiful day, and we want to enjoy our cricket,” she explained.
